Ancestry have a whole range of stories and how-to videos on their YouTube channel, with advice to assist you researching their site and family history in general.
Trove Digitised Newspapers – Search through hundreds of Australian titles from 1803 to 2007, for stories, personal notices and obituaries.
You can also search their large image database with many historic photographs, or look for diaries and personal papers held by the National Library.
The Registry of Births, Deaths Marriages Victoria Family History Search page offers a quick search facility to the indexes for historical Births (from 1853 to 100 years ago), Deaths (from 1853 to 60 years ago), Marriages (from 1853 to 30 years ago), early Church Baptisms, Marriages & Burials (1836 to 1853), and Marine BDMs (1853 to 1920).
The Public Record Office Victoria holds government produced records from across the state. Many records in the collection contain information about people and places relevant to family or local history research, from Divorce, and Education, to Soldier Settlement, and Wills & Probate.
National Archives of Australia houses significant Australian Federal Government records relevant to family history research, including war service records, immigration & citizenship, First Australians and more.
