Loan Periods
At library branches you can borrow books and talking books for a loan period of 28 days, whilst music CDs, CD-ROMs, DVDs and magazines are available for a loan period of 7 days.
All items borrowed from a mobile library site have a loan period of 28 days. (Please note that Mobile library customers who borrow from a library branch are subject to the normal loan periods)
Holds
You can place holds on library items that are on loan or located at another library branch. To place a hold, log into “My Account”, or ask staff to place any holds for you. You can also place holds on items via the library app.
When an item is available for you to pick up an email, SMS, phone message or letter will be sent to you. (Message type depends on your selected preference).
You have two weeks to collect any holds waiting for you. Any uncollected items will have the hold cancelled.
Renewing Items
You can renew any items if they are not overdue or have a hold placed by another library patron.
You can renew items through “My Account”, library app, in person, or by phoning the library (please have your library card with you).
When renewing items through “My Account” go to “Checkouts” and select the items you wish to renew. Remember you can only do this once if the item is not overdue or has a hold.
Book Chutes
You can return all library items at any library branch through the external 24/7 book chutes (except Goroke). Please ask library staff about the book chute.
Overdue Items
The Library does not charge you for items that are overdue (if you have any existing fines on your library card please talk to staff).
If you have a current email address, you will receive pre-overdue notices informing you of items that are due to be returned to the library.
You will receive a reminder notice for library items if they have not been returned, after two (2) weeks past the return date. However, if you do not return library items after six (6) weeks, a bill requesting payment for the cost of the items will be sent to you.
